Drama over, adventure continues … tomorrow

Update on the plane.

After checking this morning with a couple of mechanics, it was determined that the Mooney should be safe to fly back to Brisbane. Partner did full engine run ups and made certain to top up the oil reservoir. After landing safely at Archerfield aerodrome he phoned. He sounded very happy and relieved. Always good when the number of landings matches the number of take offs.

A bunch of mechanics checked the plane’s oil leak. It was a serious problem. Good thing he brought it back to Brissy. Thankfully it was a very easy fix and only took a few hours to repair. The plane is now fully serviceable and ready for flight!

Unfortunately the pilot isn’t. Well, he could jump back in the right hand seat and fly as far as Roma for the night (being that he’s now familiar with the town). But he’d still have a 5.5 – 6 hour flight across the desert to Alice Springs tomorrow. Without a thermos of fresh coffee (made to his own peculiarly pedantic recipe). He’s not a man you want to deprive of caffeine. He could do it, but it’s not pretty. So Partner has opted to spend the night in the northern suburbs with my family – good food & friendly conversation. Give him time to chill out, prepare a fresh thermos and make some sandwiches for the trip.

So the drama is over, but the adventure continues on … tomorrow.  🙂

Glad to hear he is safe and sound. Last time I flew in a light plane I contemplated getting off at Ayers rock and catching a jet back
